WASHINGTON (Sept. 2, 2025) — President Donald Trump announced Tuesday from the Oval Office that U.S. Space Command headquarters will be relocated from Colorado to Alabama, a decision drawing national attention.
The announcement came after an unusually quiet stretch in Trump’s public schedule. In August, the president held more than two dozen events, including a Cabinet meeting on Aug. 26, but then kept out of the spotlight for several days. That gap fueled rumors online, with memes and viral posts suggesting Trump had died or was seriously ill.
The speculation prompted Fox News’ Peter Doocy to raise the issue during the Oval Office event. “About a big viral social media trend over the weekend: How did you find out over the weekend that you were dead? Did you see that?” Doocy asked.
Trump laughed off the question, responding, “No.” Doocy pressed, pointing out that more than 1.3 million users had engaged with the rumor. Trump replied: “Really? … It’s sort of crazy. Last week, I did numerous news conferences — all successful — and then I didn’t do any for two days, and they said there must be something wrong with him.”
Despite the viral chatter, Trump assured supporters on Truth Social over the weekend that he “never felt better.”
